You'll need

  • 8 pork sausages (reduced fat)
  • 1kg potatoes, peeled and chopped
  • 2 onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil
  • 400ml gravy, made from granules
  • 30g butter, for the mash
  • 50ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 300g frozen peas

Method

How to make it

  1. Bake

Put the sausages on a tray and bake at 200C (180C fan, gas 6) for about 25 minutes, turning once, until browned with no pink in the middle.

  2. Boil

Boil the potatoes in salted water for 15 to 20 minutes until a knife slides in easily.

  3. Soften

Cook the sliced onions in the oil over a low heat for 15 minutes, stirring now and then, until soft and golden.

  4. Gravy

Make up the gravy with boiling water as the packet says, pour it over the onions and let it bubble for 2 minutes.

  5. Mash

Drain the potatoes well and mash with the butter and milk until smooth. Cook the peas for 3 minutes.

  6. Serve

Spoon the mash onto four plates, add two sausages each and the peas, and pour the onion gravy over.
