FAQ

Everything, answered honestly

If your question isn't here, email us — you'll get a straight answer.

Getting started

Who is this for?

Healthy adults (18+) who want to eat better, lose or maintain weight, or just stop thinking about meals altogether — breakfast, lunch and dinner, done for you. If you have a medical condition, are pregnant or breastfeeding, or are under 18, this service isn't the right tool — your GP or a registered dietitian is.

What happens right after I sign up?

You answer two minutes of questions about your goal, tastes, allergies and activity. Within minutes your welcome email arrives with your calorie target, and a few minutes after that your first week of meals and the shopping list.

Do I need to download anything?

No. The whole service runs in your email inbox and on WhatsApp — you already have both, so there's no app to install and no password to remember.

Can I use it on WhatsApp instead of email?

Yes — use either, or both. Give us your mobile number at sign-up, save the coach as a contact, and message away. It's one coach behind both doors: tell it on WhatsApp that you've gone off porridge and your emailed plan changes too. Your weekly plan and shopping list still land by email, because they're easier to keep and search there.

How fast are replies?

Usually within a few minutes, any hour of any day.

Food

What about my allergies?

You tell us at sign-up and we build your plans around them. If your allergies change, email info@myplateprep.com so we can update your record — mentioning it in a chat isn't enough for it to be saved. Our check is only as good as what you tell us and it can miss things — we can't see your food and we can't read your labels. Please don't treat your plan as an allergen check: read the ingredients panel and the ‘may contain’ line on every packet, every time. We'll keep reminding you to check labels — packet recipes change, and the label is always the final word. That's not us covering ourselves; that's how allergy safety genuinely works.

Where do the calorie and macro numbers come from?

Where we can, they're checked against the UK government's official food composition data (McCance and Widdowson's CoFID). Anything we can't match there — including what you tell us you ate, branded foods and takeaways — is an AI estimate: close enough to steer by, not exact.

Can you handle vegetarian / vegan / halal / gluten-free?

Tell us at sign-up and we build your plans around it. We're not a certification service and can't verify how a product was made, so check the packaging and any certification mark yourself.

Do drinks count?

Very much — a large glass of wine is about 190 kcal, a pint of standard lager about 140, and they're the easiest thing to forget. Just mention them in your messages ("two beers at the match") and your coach folds them into your day, no judgement. And water's always a good shout.

I cook for a family — does that work?

Yes. Tell us how many you're cooking for and the quantities and shopping list are scaled to match, with the numbers worked out per portion.

Money

How does the free trial work?

7 days, full service, no card needed. On your last free day we email you your week in numbers and a payment link — keep it for £9.99 a month, or do nothing and it simply stops. Nothing can be charged, because we never took a card.

How do I cancel?

Email info@myplateprep.com and ask us to cancel — a person on the team will cancel your subscription for you, any time, no questions. There's no minimum term. UK cooling-off rules apply and we refund pro-rata inside them.

Will the price go up?

Not without telling you first. It's £9.99 a month with no introductory rate that quietly jumps later. If we ever do need to change the price, we'll email you at least 30 days beforehand and you can cancel before it takes effect — you'll never be charged a new price you haven't been told about.

Trust & safety

Am I talking to a real person?

No — and we're upfront about that. Your coach is our AI, which is how it can reply at 11pm on a Sunday in under five minutes. A human (the owner) oversees the service, reviews quality, and steps in if anything ever needs it.

Is this medical advice?

No. We provide general wellness information for healthy adults. We never diagnose, treat or manage medical conditions, and if you tell us something that needs a professional — pregnancy, diabetes, an eating disorder, anything medical — we'll stop, say so, and point you to the right help instead of pretending.

Do I have to follow the plan exactly?

No — and you shouldn't treat it that way. MyPlatePrep is a tool: it helps you keep track of what you eat and what you burn, and nudges you towards a healthier way of eating. Your plan is a guide to work from, not a strict diet you must follow, and no single day's numbers matter much on their own. If real life takes over, tell your coach what actually happened and it's logged — no drama, no catching up.

What happens to my data?

Your food preferences, goals and allergy info count as health data under UK law, so we ask your explicit permission before storing them, use them only to run your service, and delete them 60 days after you cancel. We're registered with the Information Commissioner's Office (registration ZC220881), and we never sell data to anyone. Full details in our privacy notice.

Where are your terms?

The full terms of service, privacy notice and cancellation policy are linked in the footer of every page — written in plain English, because terms you can't understand protect nobody.
